I think I'll speak on the behalf of my PC gaming brethren. I'll try to be polite as possible in this issue.
PC gaming has existed basically back when computers were first invented. Then came the first consoles was a big hit. Of course I wasn't born during that time yet so I'll skip to the late 90's and early 2000. PC games were advanced in many ways that consoles could not compete. A lot of "blockbuster" hits of games were on the PC while a lot less were on the consoles not to mention that PC had online gaming before consoles did. Then came the Gamecube and Playstation 2 and Xbox. Console began to be more popular, but like I said, it still couldn't compete some most of the PC games cause PC's were overall more powerful hence being able to handle for technical stuff like supporting more players in a game, modding, and overall a lot better graphics and sometimes better gameplay because of this. But by this time, PC's began to get a little pricey so more people started turning away from PC gaming and went to consoles. Then came the big Xbox 360 and PS3 and Wii. These consoles began to take over the gaming industry and a lot of companies that made exclusive games for the PC began to take the console route (where the money is).
The problems that PC gamers have today is that a lot of gamers nowadays are made for consoles and later just slapped onto the PC cause theres still PC gamers around. What does this mean? Less support for PC players, less features that previous PC games had such as better graphics, more players in a game, PC-specific features, mods, harder and more skill-based gameplay (CoD1 and 2 requires a lot more skill than CoD4 and MW2 and other games are also dumbed down so its easier to play on the console and PC gamers are being hit by these effects in the PC version of their games). This is why many PC gamers are afraid of their used-to-be exclusive games such as the upcoming BF3 because they are afraid it might be dumbed down or made too arcadish for the hardcore PC gamer. For example, BF2 was way ahead of its time when it first came out with large maps, intense graphics, large amount of players, unique and tactical gameplay that relied on voice chat and text chatting with everyone in your whole team at once. Consoles don't have the the capability to handle these things so many PC gamers are afraid that BF3 will suffer because of this. And this is why some PC gamers like myself think that BC1 and 2 was created to satisfy console gamers while keeping it "consoly"
But even bleh bleh bleh i think you get the idea. Its just that PC games have always been dumbed down because of their console brothers especially how PC games were the top in the past. Also PC gamers never had to pay for DLC until the consoles arrived. They received free content through patched which some PC games still do but companies are quickly succumbing to the greed and some PC games are being priced $60 now instead of the usual $50 with the additional pay for extra content DLC's. Pretend 360 and PS3 games being dumbed down to Wii "standards" (no offense but I love the Wii and also own a 360). I bet you console players would be pissed too.
